How Computers Work; Ron White
I recently purchased the highly recommended 'How Computers Work' by Ron White. Having only read about 100 pages in, I am currently in no position to write a full book review I can however recommend this title to anyone interested in any element of computing from hardcore low-level binary operation to how a mouse works, every area is tackled and is approached in a heavily illustrated manner making it a gentle ease into the world of computing.

I bought it after reading your posts. I may follow you along.
ReplyDeleteIts a good buy if ever I've seen one, coming to the end of it now and genuinly feel as if I now 'get' computers, all those strange terms like 'parsing error' and 'kernel error', 'cannot find serial port' etc.. etc.. things that used to make me so confused now make sense. Computing is a brilliant science and this is a great starter book. Also Oni do you have a progress blog or anything similar so I can see how your getting along? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a progress blog right now but I'll inform with if I make one.
